AVID - Awaken Village Interest In Dance

AVID (Awaken Village Interest in Dance) is a community project to bring traditional dancing to rural areas. It is non profit-making and is sponsored by a number of community and private organisations. Low-cost "DIY Ceilidhs" are held monthly at villages in North Nottinghamshire and the Isle of Axholme (North Lincolnshire) where all are welcome as musicians, callers or dancers.

AVID BARN DANCES 2015

8 p.m. until 10.45 p.m. , admission, a staggering 1, children 50 pence
bring your own drink (and food if you want)
All dances are the SECOND WEDNESDAY OF THE MONTH

AVID Tune books / Dance books

Two tune books (both containing some sixty six well laid-out tunes) are now available to make it easier for people (from beginners to experts) to join in and play music for dancing.
An accompanying book introduces Calling for Dance.
All AVID publications can be obtained from Peter Barnard at the address below.
The tunebooks have been so successful that a second print run has now been run!!


AVID SESSIONS 2015

  • ENGLISH MUSIC SESSION ON THE THIRD WEDNESDAY OF THE MONTH Come and enjoy a monthly English music session with AVID musicians (and real ale) at The Blue Bell, Gringley-On-The-Hill (third Wednesday) from 8.30 pm onwards
